New releases |
 |
|
The new vintage or our
award-winning Seyval
Blanc (yes,
that was a GOLD medal!) was
released December 1st. Made
with 2008 Seyval Blanc grapes
from our own vines, this dry
white has a grape-fruit and lime
character with a crisp finish.
Also being released soon is our Chamborcin
2008. This dry
red wine made from Indiana-grown
grapes has a popular
following with an aromatic plum
and cherry character that leaves
a full-bodied taste on the
palate.
Exact release date for the
Chamborcin has not been
determined, so check our
website, call, or click the link
below to know availability.

Girls Nights Out to resume in
Spring |
| |
|
Our first W.I.N.O.S. (Women in
Need of Shopping) event was such
a hit, we've tentatively
scheduled 3 more in the Spring:
March 18, April 15, and May 20.
The format will be similar--
women can shop among a
marketplace of vendors, sample
and purchase wines, enter
drawings for prizes,
and socialize with their
friends-- but we will likely
recommend reservations due to
the popularity of the night. If
you would like to receive email
notifications of upcoming Girls
Nights Out at Satek, click this
link below and give us your
email address.

Inclement weather |

|
With winter weather upon us, be
sure to check our website for
weather-related delays or
closings for the winery before
you head out to visit us.
We update our site via Twitter,
so information will be more

While the family is around for
the holidays, and of course,
enjoying a glass of Satek Wine,
snap a couple of pictures. Our
photo contest is still accepting
entries, and you could win a
gift certificate to help
replenish your wine rack after
the relatives go home. Click on
the link below and include
"photo contest entry" in your
subject line. Be sure to
include a brief description of
the picture and your contact
information.

Holiday Gift Guide
For the wine lovers on your
shopping list, look no
further than Satek Winery!
You know you don't really
want to navigate the mall
anyway, and you can find
more unique gifts and
indulge in a little wine
tasting while you're here.
What could be better?
Here's a new twist
on the traditional
holiday fruit
basket, that may
actually be even
more appreciated! We
can custom-make a
gift basket for you
with any combination
of your favorite
fruit wines:
Raspberry,
Blueberry,
Blackberry, and
Mango. We include
serving suggestions
and recipe ideas and
a Satek Winery
corkscrew. Price of
basket is based on
the wines you choose
to include.
Fruit Basket, as
shown with all
four fruit
wines: $74.96
Wine
stoppers

Whatever your gift recipient's
interests, we probably have
a pewter wine stopper to
match. These attractive
real-cork stoppers both
decorate bottles and preserve
the wine inside (they can even
be used to close oil & vinegar
bottles too). Our wide variety
of designs include themes of
golf, nautical/boating, fishing,
motorcycles, dogs, cats,
lighthouses, frogs, dolphins,
and of course, wine.
Merlot-scented soy candles
These soy candles burn cleaner
and longer than wax candles and
are scented like Merlot, but the
best part just may be the
reusable Satek stemless wine
glass they will have when the
candle is gone. Pair them with
our artisan-made candle holders
shaped like poinsettias or holly
leaves, and you've got the
perfect gift.
Merlot-scented soy candle: $7.50
Candleholder: $12.00
Handpainted Christmas wine
glasses
Each year, local artist Tarma
Van Aken creates for us an
exclusive, limited-edition handpainted
Christmas glass. The 2009
design features
contemporary dotted circles in
green, gold, red, and white on a
red wine glass. Each glass is
numbered and dated. This year
we also have matching acrylic
wine chillers and pitchers as
well.
Handpainted Christmas wine
glasses: $10.99
Matching chiller: $20.99
Matching pitcher: $23.99
Saving corks after
enjoying your favorite
bottles of wine is
nothing new, but these
cork cages are a fun and
novel way to display
them. Made of metal and
embedded with colorful
glass marbles, you can
be sure this gift will
be enjoyed for years to
come. Choose wine
bottle shape or wine
barrel shape.
Cork cage: $24.00 each

Food & wine pairings for
holiday meals

Let us help take a bit of the
stress out of your holiday meal
planning. No, we're not going
to come over and cook for you,
nor even wash your dishes. But,
we can help
you pick wines to pair with your
meals. Because personal opinion
factors in a bit in this, we are
offering two different
perspectives. Weighing in are
myself (Chrissie Koher) and
Jason Satek, son of winery owner
Larry Satek.
If you are preparing a
traditional glazed
ham dinner, He
said: Kreibaum Bay Dry Rose,
2008.
She
said: Kreibaum Bay Dry
Reisling, 2007.
For beef
tenderloin, roast
beef, or brisket,
He said:
Syrah, 2006. She said:
DeChaunac, 2008.
For a roast leg of lamb, He
said: Kreibaum Bay Sangiovese,
2006 or Old Vine Red Zinfandel,
2006. She said:
Marechal Foch, 2008.
For pheasant
or quail, He
said: Vidal Blanc, 2007. She
said: Pinot Noir, 2007.
At the dessert course:
For plum
pudding or custards, He
said: Steuben Krystal Ice Wine,
2007. She
said: Kreibaum Bay Steuben
Dessert Wine, 2008.
For mincemeat
pie, He
said: Blueberry. She
said: Kreibaum Bay Port, 2007.
For any
chocolate dessert, He
said: Raspberry. She
said: Raspberry Wine, what else!
Let's not forget about New
Year's Day: The traditional
Southern mealincludes
pork or hog jowls, black-eyed
peas, collard greens and corn
bread.
He said:
Kreibaum Bay Dry Reisling, 2007.
She said:
Chardonnay, 2008. But if you
truly intend to eat that stuff,
have lots of Pepto Bismol on
hand.
Keep in mind that the above is
just suggested pairings, and
truly whatever you enjoy
is the "proper" wine to serve.
But if you, like me, are a
little uncertain of your
culinary skills, refer
to our favorite apron in our
gift shop: "If you don't like
the food, drink more wine!" At
least we can help you get the
wine part right...
